HUMAX Co., Ltd. was founded in 1989 with the sole vision of becoming a leader in the digital set top box market. After quickly gaining recognition, HUMAX became the first Asian company to develop a Digital Video Broadcast Set Top Box (DVB STB) and is currently the world’s 3rd largest Set Top Box provider.

Located in the city of Bundang is their new office "HUMAX Village." This modern 12-story building was designed by the renowned architect H-Sang Seung & IROJE. Due to the innovative design and generous use of glass, sunlight lights up the interior of the black stone building. Through the large cavity space in the center with a glass ceiling, one can see the overlapping floors that are connected with stairs that resemble "Jacob's Ladder" and glass elevators. As one of the most contemporary and innovative buildings in Korea, the space has been getting much attention from the public. The tour will consist of a presentation of introduction to the company, their show room, and the building tour.

The Raemian Open House displays some of the most advanced automation technologies applied to living spaces. All the products are the result of Samsung's great efforts to achieve the best customer satisfaction. The theme of the Open House varies from one year to another. The three main motifs cutting-edge technology, creativity, and sustainability have shaped the new products implemented in the house.

Some examples of the products and technologies presented include a kitchen sink that automatically adjusts its height to the person standing, a refrigerator that shows all contents and corresponding recipes on a screen, a TV connected to the living room table that can transfer data from a CD or a mobile phone, and a couch that plays the user's preferred music based on the saved data. During the tour, you will be able to interact with some of these technologies at the Open House.

They are currently operating in over 100 countries, focusing on five business areas, which are Digital Media, Telecommunication Network, Digital Appliance, Semiconductor, and LCD.

The one-hour tour to the visitor center of Samsung Electronics will be a good opportunity to take a look at their most recent products and technologies as well as their historical artifacts from the last forty years. No photography allowed, except in the promotions room within the center. There also will be a Q & A session in the end.

Hynix Semiconductor, Inc., one of the leading semiconductor producers, has been growing rapidly with technological expertise and extensive investment on research. Their products are based mainly on DRM and NAND flash.

The headquarters are located in Icheon, a city known for its long history of pottery as well as the Folk Village Museum. This tour to Icheon will be a great opportunity to witness one of the most advanced technologies and cherished traditions of Korea in one day. Therer will be a short presentation about the company prior to the plant tour.

Icheon World Ceramic Center located at Seolbong Park is composed of four main exhibition halls and large open spaces where ceramics festivities can take place, along with an international conference hall with a capacity to seat 400 persons, and theme parks featuring traditional Korean kilns, gombangdae (smoking pipe kilns), and Toya Land.

Icheon World Ceramic Center has on permanent display the ceramic works of major Korean and international ceramists, and also holds special exhibitions to provide a comprehensive display of the world contemporary ceramics. This is in line with the Center’s aspiration to lead the globalization of Korean ceramics and develop into one of the major centers of international ceramic culture.

In June 1974, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. completed the construction of the world's largest shipyard and two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) at the same time. A decade after its first delivery, the Hyundai Shipyard topped 10 million deadweight tons in aggregate ship production and has maintained the leading position in the world shipbuilding market ever since.

The 1-hour tour will consist of introduction to the company and a sit-in bus tour of the shipbuilding yard. No photgraphy allowed.

Since the opening of its first plant in 1985, Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (POSCO) has strived to meet the high standards set by its own. The reputation of its ironmaking and steelmaking, as well as establishment of connections among related industries, academics, and researchers through the founding of Pohang University of Science and Technology, has pushed POSCO to become one of the most successful, international companies.

The 2-hour tour around the Hot Strip Mill and the POSCO museum, as well as a short video presentation, will provide an opportunity to take a peak at one of the most advanced and successful iron and steelmaking facilities in the world. No photgraphy allowed in the mill.

Located in the Daedock Valley's academia cluster, KAIST is home to some of the brightest minds of Korea, including students, faculty members, and researchers, with a huge influence on the development of science and technology in Korea. The tour will visit other research centers in Daedock Valley as well.

The KAIST tour will take you to Nano Fab Center, Hubo Lab (Humanoid Robot Research Center), and Sattelite Technology Research Center. Some of the research centers include Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute.

KT, formerly Korea Telecom, is South Korea's top integrated wired/wireless telecommunication service provider. KT has been Korea's leader in the development of the information & communications business for the last 25 years after privatization, as well as sharing a largest portion of the South Korean local telephone and high-speed Internet. KT is creating a world with ubiquitous, cutting-edge technology that goes beyond world-class broadband technology. They have recently launched the world's first wireless broadband service (WIBRO).

Their Media Center in Yeoyido demonstrates their IPTV technology, which connects the TV to the online network, enabling the viewer to access more channels anytime. The KT Media Center tour will consist of a 20-minute demonstration session and a 20-minute Q & A session.

In the beginning of the 21st century, LG Electronics, Co. Ltd. saw a great opportunity for tremendous growth in the mobile phone industry. With the hugely popular Chocolate Phone, their mobile phone division, LG Mobile, took off properly. By 2005, LG Electronics was considered a Top 100 global brand and now the world's largest plasma panel manufacturer.

This tour will take you to LG Electronics's Visitor center, which contains Mobile Zone, Digital Appliance Zone, Media Zone, and Display Zone. You will also get to spend time in the production line area of the plant.

Seoul National University, one of the most well-known and prestigious universities of Korea, is located at the bottom of Mountain Gwanak. The scenic campus features a number of impressive facilities for both academic and non-academic use. the Kyujanggak Institute for Korea Studies, and the art museum designed by architect Rem Koolhaas.

Some of the research centers include the Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC), the Advanced Automotive Research Center (AARC), and the Automation and Systems Research Institute (ASRI). These centers conduct extensive research toward understanding a range of engineering fields applied to critical fields. The history of the Kyujanggak goes back to 1776, when it was founded as the Kyujanggak Royal Library in the rear garden of Changdeokgung palace. The Seoul National University Museum of Art, designed by Rem Koolhaas, holds a number of lectures, exhibits, and other various events.
